Back in the mid-90s I was intrigued by rubber stamping so bought a Christmas tree stamp from a local stationery shop. It was horrible (the stamp, not the shop) but it was all they had. I turned to the wisdom of my cousin in Canada, a seasoned papercrafter, and she kindly sent me a few stamps to play with. Unfortunately, her choice of stamps wasn’t (and still isn’t!) my style at all and that very nearly was the end of that.

However, on a visit to England, she showed me a Stampin’ Up!® catalogue she’d been given. At last! These were exactly what I'd been looking for and I begged her to send me some... only to be told that they were only available in the USA. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.

Patiently I waited. Actually, that's not true. I was REALLY impatient, but after at least 10 years I was eventually rewarded when SU launched in Europe. I signed up straight away.

And then I panicked. Why would someone with a fear of public speaking sign up to be a demonstrator? All I can say is that the desire to get the products overshadowed everything else. Soon I was had a calendar of workshops and classes and – biggest surprise of all — a growing team.

Stampin' Up!® can change lives. I've seen people become successful businesswomen, I've seen it help people cope with difficult periods in their lives, I've seen it help people develop busy social lives and I've seen it unlock creativity that people didn't even know they had. All because of Stampin' Up!®

What will Stampin' Up!® do for you?

I love wildlife and nature, and my stamping themes reflect this. I will usually choose trees over flowers, and earthy tones over pinks and subtles. I am not a fan of fussy techniques, I find fancy folds and complicated 3D boxes extremely challenging – and I’m rubbish at tying bows. What I’m trying to say is that nobody is perfect; we all find our way in crafting and as long as we enjoy it, that’s all that matters.
